About College

More than 20,000 students have graduated from Erebouni State Medical College and work in the health care systems in Armenia and abroad. Currently the college has 1,200 students, employs 155 lecturers, some of which have scientific degrees. Nomber of highly qualified specialists are regularly invited from abroad /USA, Sweden/.
College offers the following 8 secondary technical degrees in accordance with license No. I-XX-000038 of the RA Ministry of Health:

0402 - Midwifery
0405 - Pharmacy
0406 - Nursing
0407 - Laboratory Diagnostics
0410 - Medical Cosmetology
0411 - Medical Massage
0415 - Nursing Administration
0416 - Dental Technology

Educational programs and curriculum are conducted in accordance with national and international requirements. Classes are held in 50 laboratory teaching rooms and 30 classrooms that are specially equipped with modern didactic technology and materials. College has a scientific-educational research centre, modern computerized services, Internet and library with 54,000 Armenian and foreign books and subscriptions to 30 specialised journals and newsletters.

College cooperates with several medical hospitals that serve as training sites for the students: "Erebouni", "Nairi", "Emergency Service", "Shengavit", "Haik", "Malatia" and "Arabkir" medical centres, "Mikaelian" Surgery Institute, Children Emergency Hospital, Nork Republican Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Republican Eye Hospital, "Med Est" clinic, "Van" dental clinic, as well as different pharmacies and policlinics.

College's scientific-methodological advisory board was established on December 27, 2001 by the order of the Minister of Health No.951. Outstanding medical scientists of the Republic of Armenia are members of the advisory board. Advisory board reviews and approves educational textbooks and materials for the college as well as for other paramedical educational institutions.

In 1995 the college was the first to establish a new four year Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing /BSN/ program in Nursing Administration which is the only existing one in the country. The program was founded in cooperation with the Medical College of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

After graduating from the four year Nursing Administration program Nurse Managers receive may following degrees: State Diploma awarded by the College, Certificate from UCLA Medicine Center equivalent to the Bachelor in Nursing (BSN).
Nurses with a Bachelor's degree may continue further education for a Master degree of Public Health (MPH) at the American University of Armenia. According to international experts, the four year educational program is known to be the best one in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Since 1996 the college has an ongoing cooperation with medical college of science of the Jonkoping University in Sweden. Each year the best students and lecturers of the college study and work in Sweden for three months to exchange experience and further their qualifications.

Since 1999 the college cooperates with the International Nursing Honour Association "Sigma Theta Tau"; the best graduates of the college are awarded college membership.

Since 2000 the college cooperates with the World Health Organization (WHO) on a consultancy basis.

Since 2001 the college cooperates with Nebraska University Medical College, Omaha, USA for distance learning education of Master programs. The goal of the cooperation is to keep the college informed of new medical knowledge and developments. Through exchange program college graduates increase their theoretical knowledge and practical skills and may receive master degrees.

Since 2005 year the college cooperates with active USA MZG NOVA international organization in Armenia (innovatory assistance to reproductive health).

Since 2005 year hitherto the college publishes “nurse informant Erebuni” which is provided for students as well as for working nurses and wide framework of readers.

Since 2008 year by the order of Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia “domestic nursing” department is opened in college where the nurses of the Republic can be specialized and retrained.

Graduates of the Nursing Administration program may work as nurse managers or nursing lecturers.

College is the only state paramedical institution that trains laboratory assistants (0407), cosmetologists (0410), medical masseurs (0411) and nursing organizers (0415).

All college graduates receive State Diplomas of the Republic of Armenia and are highly demanded within country and abroad.

College is a training site for the National Institute of Health of Armenia, wich offers the continuous postgraduate nursing education program for nurse re-licensing as well as a program in Nursing Administration and Nursing Cosmetology.

Scholarships are awarded due to special regulations. Scholarship amount is 4750 Dram per month.

On the basis of 9 years basic, general school education

Students with 9 years school education do not receive scholarships. They may apply to all speciality except 0415 - Nursing Administration.
Duration of education is 1 year longer than of those with 11 years secondary school education.
Fee for the first year is 110,000 AMD, for the following years the fees for the 11 year graduates are as below mentioned.

Discounts of tuition and free study is awarded to students of families of soldiers fallen in action, to orphans, handicapped students and students who have excellent marks for two consecutive semesters.

Way of education - daytime, but college has distant education for specialty "Pharmacy" (annual tuition fees in Armenian Drams- 150,000, duration of education - 3 years).

Education is conducted in Armenian language.
